Absolutely beautiful capture! The ice is so crystal clear and the blur in the water just make such great contrast. The moss on the side of the rock is just a nice touch to add some color to the composition! Just wondering, did you have to use an ND filter for this 20 sec shot?

Just a polarizing filter and small aperture. It was getting pretty dark by the time I took the shot.

Thank you for the reply. I've been thinking of investing in a nd filter. Just wondering which one I should get. Do you have any recommendations?

Do you just want a circular one for water and such?

If so, I would recomend a Hoya ND8 or any quality 3 stop (.9) ND filter. Or, if you have the money ($340) to spend buy a singh-ray vari-ND, which will allow you to go from 2 to 8 stops with one filter.

Do you have a circular polarizing filter?

yeah, i already have a cp filter, but often time, it is still too bright and I can barely use a 1/2 sec exposure before washing out all the highlights. i didn't know that there is such a thing as a vari-nd. that's pretty cool but i don't think i can justfiy 340 on it with my skill at this point. =) Thank you for your recommendations. I really appreciate it!
